20.

Today is the 20th day in which I have not partaken in a cigarette. I am sooo proud of myself. Another week...and I should have no reason to CRAVE tobacco. From what I've been told...that's roughly how long it takes to "forget the feeling." "Forget the craving" if you will. I'm excited to be a NON-SMOKER. Do you know how much money I've already saved??? Lets see. I smoked roughly 1/2 a pack a day...maybe 2/3. Lets just say I bought a pack every 2 days. It's been 20 days. A pack of Parliament Lights...(my cigarette of choice)...costs about $4.72. If I smoke that much every 2 days...I must then multiply that amount by 10 days...which gives me...$4.72 x 10 = $47.20. DAMN. I saved about $50.oo in less than a month. Multiply that by 12 months...thats about $600 / yr. that I spent on cigarettes. And to be honest...there were times when I smoked a "pack a day." That would be roughly $1200.00 / yr. WOW. That's quite a bit.

Song of the day.

I'm all over the Kings of Leon album right now..."Only By The Night."

"Kings of Leon are a Grammy Award-winning[1] American rock band from Gardner, Massachusetts, USA. The band is made up of three brothers – Caleb Followill (b. January 14, 1982) (lead singer/rhythm guitar), Nathan Followill (b. June 26, 1979) (drums/backup vocals), Jared Followill (b. November 20, 1986) (bass guitar/backup vocals/synthesizer) – and their first cousin Matthew Followill (b. September 10, 1984) (lead guitar/backup vocals). They are all known by their middle names. The band's sound derives from southern rock, hard rock and alternative. They have released four full-length albums. The group's name is derived from Nathan, Caleb and Jared's father and grandfather, both named Leon.[2] In terms of chart positions the band has been far more popular in Europe (notably in the UK and Ireland) than they have been in their homeland. 80% of all record sales have come from UK winning two Brit Awards (best international band, best album) and Australia (where they had 2008's highest-selling album)." -Wikipedia

a productive day.

Today was studious. By that I mean I studied a lot. I got 4 out of 5 on my Accounting quiz...STOKED. I know thats only 80%...but considering that the chapter is like 20 pages of mumbo jumbo...and we take the quiz before he teaches the material...I'd say thats pretty good. Yeh...we take quizzes on shit we have to self teach ourselves. soooo dumb. Why not quiz us after you teach it? anyways...took great notes in class today. I actually paid attention...even when the professor went off on tangents about absolute bullshit. Had Rubios for dinner...can't begin to talk about how great the food is there. The Grilled Mesquite Shrimp Burrito is super bomb. Ask for white sauce on the side. Thank you. Studied at Barnes for 4+ hours. Took a lot of notes. Helped my friend study for her human anatomy test...she's ready I can tell. I wish I was that ready for the ACCOUNTING test I just took this last monday. We didn't get it back today...he said it takes a week to grade it. LIAR. jk. But I did well. I wasn't totally impressed with my performance...but somewhat impressed. Got my NEW iPHONE today. It looks so clean. IMMACULATE. I now have to restore all my contacts and emails and music and notes and blah blah blah blah blah. I'm gonna have a glass of wine...watch George Lopez...and go to sleep. Good. Night.

my steez. colored pencil on the wall.

the original. damn sick.

slumdog millionaire.

Definitely makes my list of favorites...

Jamal Malik: I knew you'd be watching
Latika: I thought we would meet only in death.
Jamal Malik: This is our destiny
Latika: Kiss me

Slumdog Millionaire was a really great movie.
This movie was super hyped up for me too. I've been hearing about it for months now: I saw Freida Pinto (the georgeous co-star who plays Latika) on Jay Leno talking about it...the directer Danny Boyle won an award for best director, (I saw him get it, along with clips from the movie) and I have not heard one bad review from anyone that I've talked to about it. Not to mention seeing people talk about it on TV, people ranting and raving about it. I watched it tonight, and needless to say, it was awe-inspiring. The main character never gives up until he gets what he wants. Even though the cards he has dealt to him are awful, he finds a way to get passed it. He is a genius, a scholar, and a gentleman. The story was very original. I realize that I am hyping it up right now, so i'll stop. But watch it.

Storyline: A Mumbai teen who grew up in the slums, becomes a contestant on the Indian version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" He is arrested under suspicion of cheating, and while being interrogated, events from his life history are shown which explain why he knows the answers.

new iPhone.

Looks like I'm getting a new iPhone. It'll be my 3rd one. I'll try to make this as short as possible. My first one...lasted for about 10 months. Then suddenly...something happened to the sound. I was only able to hear through my headphones. In other words...my phone wouldn't ring unless my headphones were in. Thats a problem hah. I took it in...they replaced it. This puts me on phone # 2. I've had this phone for a little over a year now...22 days over a year to be exact. Last week...out of nowhere...a bunch of horizontal lines just ran through my screen. Mind you...I've never dropped my phone...never sat on it...never did anything that would cause this to happen. I'm a careful dood. I just woke up and it was there. Again...thats a problem. I take it in...and unfortunately "I'm sorry we can't replace it...its passed its warranty." I ask the dood..."Can I talk to your manager?" He looks at me as if I'm a dumbass and says..."Thats who I just asked...she's gonna tell you the same thing." I reply..."I understand that...can I please talk to your manager?" He rolls his eyes...and walks back to fetch his manager. This girl comes out...and I'm usually not prejudice...but she looked like a bitch...and she totally was. Doesn't even introduce herself...just walks straight up to me and says..."We can't replace it sorry." I said..."Hi I'm Jessie nice to meet you." She still just looked down at my phone and made no eye contact with me whatsover. I asked her if she could kindly make any exception...since it's only been roughly 20 days passed its warranty. She rudely replied..."Can't do it. If it were 5 or 10 days maybe." I asked her..."So theres ABSOLUTELY NOTHING YOU CAN DO FOR ME?" Again...a rude reply..."Nope sorry." At this point I'm pissed, and frustrated. I then say..."Well can you give a phone number...someone else I can talk to?" She gives me the number...I walk away. I did not thank her....which bothers me. I hate not being able to thank people for their time...but she deserved nada way. AS SOON AS I GET HOME...i call the number...and they say the same exact thing. There is nothing they can do for me..."BECAUSE ITS PASSED ITS WARRANTY." At this point I began to hate the phrase. I then say to her..."Thank you for time...can I possibly talk to your supervisor?" And to be honest this girl on the phone was extremely helpful. 10 times as helpful as the manager from the apple store. I get put on hold for 20 minutes...NOT EXAGGERATING. This guy comes on the phone...and apologizes for me waiting. He said he looked over my case...pulled some strings...even called the store that I was just at no more than an hour ago...and sets me up with an appointment for a new phone. He then asks about the service of the store I was at...and I'm not the type to drop a dime on anyone...but...I simply told him EXACTLY what happened...and he agreed with me that it was not the correct way to handle the situation. He gave me his phone number and his email...because he wants me to contact him after the transaction...to make sure it goes smoothly. He sounded very genuine...and his service was impeccable. He really took pride in helping people...I could easily tell. But anyways...new phone for me...I'm stoked...I hope the same bitch is working when I come in for the exchange. Ok...sorry...I couldn't make that story any shorter...hope it wasn't a COMPLETE waste of your time...call you tomorrow with my new phone hah...

song of the week.

Kings of Leon - Sex on Fire

Lay where you're laying
Don't make a sound
I know they're watching
they're watching

all the commotion
the Kiddie like play
has people talking

You
Your sex is on fire

The dark of the alley
The break of the day
Ahead while I'm driving
I'm driving

Soft lips are open
Them knuckles are pale
Feels like you're dying
You're dying

You
Your sex is on fire
And so
Were the words to transpire

Hot as a fever
Rattling bones
I could just taste it
Taste it

But it's not forever
But it's just tonight
Oh we're still the greatest
The greatest
The greatest

You
Your sex is on fire
You
Your sex is on fire
And so
Were the words to transpire
And You
Your sex is on fire
And so
Were the words to transpire

15 days.

mmMMMmmm. Grande. Triple shot. White Mocha. Gets the day going. Just wanted to give an update on the non-smoking. I have to...it's the only way I can motivate myself to NOT SMOKE. By talking about it...constantly. Even at work...everyone asks me..."Had a cigarette yet?" I love when they ask because I always smile and say..."NOPE!" I think perhaps another week...by that time I won't feen anymore. Lets hope. Last night was hard. I drank rum n coke all night. I was pretty drunk. Everyone that played poker...a total of 12 people...was smoking something. Whether it was a cigar...or a cigarette...everyone but myself was smoking. That certainly does not make it easy. It has been 15 days and I have not had a cigarette.

My buddy just gave me a web cam. Just testing it out. Not sure when I'll ever use it though hah. I'm sure I'll post up a stoopid video sometime in the near future...
I got a haircut...and also got my hair straightened. I look weird. I'm used to nappy...frizzy hair hahaha. Soon I will shave my head...maybe right before summer....

2.20.2009

Today was long.

I ended up NOT renting a movie today. I was inside BLOCKBUSTER for at least 25 minutes. There were a few movies that I KINDA wanted to see....but nothing really came out and grabbed me. I think I'll wait for SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE to come out...in like a week and a half. I did however get A LOT accomplished at BARNES today. I was there from 2pm to 8pm. I took a few breaks between studying...there are sooo many books I wanna read. Mostly non-fiction...but there are in fact a few educational books I wanna get into. Most of them have to do with my major...FINANCE. I wanna read more about OPTIONS and FUTURES. It's basically a way to become rich from home. They call it "day trading." I understand most of it at school...the only thing is....you need money to make money. 2 % of $100.00 is not that much money. But its a start. My teachers that day trade do nothing but sit at their computer...and MAKE MONEY. It's actually kinda reassuring. I'm glad I'm a finance major. But anyways...those are just a couple of "educational" books I wanna get deeper into. But I'm more interested in stories. I really wanna read SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE before I watch the movie. Also, I wanna read Revolutionary Road...with Leonardo Dicaprio and Kate Winslet. Yes...they were in TITANIC together. Today felt super long. I got a lot of shit done. I'm glad. The homies and I got faded at the end of the night. Now I'm alone...and drunk...and I want a cigarette...but I will not have one. 13 days. and counting. good night.

WALL - E.

This was a cool movie. People kept telling me bout it...how much they liked it and enjoyed it. I sold so many copies of this movie at work...i just had to watch it to see what all the fuss was about. Overall, I can honestly say it lived up to the hype...nice story, sick graphics, PIXAR is dope. Disney...forever will be dope. Combined...they're fuckin' suuuper dope.

On a different note, I've been amazing lately at NOT SMOKING. I still can't believe I haven't had a cigarette. I did the math, and I've been smoking cigarettes for 9 years. And the entire time, I was a chain smoker. During that time, I tried quitting cold turkey 3 times. Not once was I successful. The longest I went without smoking was nearly 2 1/2 days. On that 3rd day, I smoked like a chimney, to make up for the two days I didn't smoke. This is why I'm so amazed at myself right now. I haven't had a cigarette in 12 days. That may sound minuscule to a non smoker; but for a smoker, one who smokes 1/2 a pack a day, 12 days is absolutely amazing. As of right now, the only thing I am afraid of, is the next time I get wasted. I plan on getting drunk this weekend. That is when I love cigarettes the most. That is when a cigarette is my best friend. That is when a cigarette is at its absolute best. WHEN DRUNK. I haven't drank in awhile. I've been keeping up with school, plus I've been sick. Not to mention how much I've been working lately. I think I've earned myself a few beers this weekend. That'll be the test. If I don't smoke this weekend, I think it will be safe to say that I am completely over cigarettes. Had to happen some day right??
